Cheeseballs don't have to be the traditional balls, they can be made into a variety of shapes, depicting the holiday you are serving them for, or for the convenience of serving.
For instance, I found if you make them in 1 1/2 to 2 inch balls that they are easier serving, each person can retrieve their own cheeseball with the pretzel as their utensil.
Pictured is Our Pineapple Chipolte cheeseball, serve with wheat thins and you have a delicious appetizer. Your guest can pick a cheeseball and some crackers and have approximately 4 bites from that serving, much easier to obtain than from the regular cheeseball. Recipe for the Pineapple Chipolte Cheeseball is as follows:
1/2 c. well drained crushed pineapple
1 packet Mutton Hollow Herb Farm's Garlic Chipolte Dip Mix
8 ounces softened cream cheese
4 ounces(1/2 bag) finely grated cheddar cheese
Approximately 1 cup chopped pecans
Approximately 2 bundles green onion, cleaned and sliced down to the green part.
Mix cream cheese and garlic chipolte blend thoroughly, add grated cheese and drained pineapple, and blend. Chill till firm in refrigerator. When chilled, remove and shape into approximately 2 inch balls, then roll into green onion and nuts, place back in refrigerator to chill before serving.
Other suggestions: Toasted Garlic and Carmelized Onion Mix with 2 8 ounce cream cheese and roll in crushed funyons.
Roasted Garlic and Red Bell Pepper: Mix with 2 8 ounce cream cheese and roll in crushed parmesan croutons and parmesan cheese
Jalapeno Dip Mix: 8 ounce cream cheese and 8 ounce grated cheddar cheese, roll in crushed cornchips and chopped cilantro. Use Holy Habanero if you like it hot.
Christmas Tree Cheeseball
To Make Cheeseball as pictured recipe follows, by the way this is an easy project and one that might be fun to
include kids or grandkids.
2 8 ounce cream cheese
4 ounces or 1/2 bag Cheddar Jack grated cheese
bacon bits(I prefer real)
2 bunches green onions
1 bunch fresh parsley
1 package Mutton Hollow Herb Farm Garden Medley Dip Mix
grape tomatoes
carrots
Soften Cream Cheese and blend with dip mix, add grated cheese and bacon
bits, blend well and chill, after chilled thoroughly, roll and mold into a cone shape
then roll in chopped parsley and the green part of the green onions, save the white
ends. Use the white pieces of the green onion to make a garland, then chop the
tomatoes and carrots into small pieces and decorate the tree, also, red and yellow
bell pepper is an idea. Almond slices would also work.
Cover with cellophane and chill till ready to serve.
Cheesecake Bites
Started out as sweet cheeseballs and this idea came up, my grandkids love them.
Mix Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake Mix with 8 ounce softened
cream cheese and 1 1/2 cup marshmallow creme, chill, then
make into 2 inch balls, roll balls in a mixture of crushed oreos,
chopped pecans and mini chocolate chips. Place on a cookie
sheet and put in your freezer, when frozen put in an air tight
container. Best served straight out of the freezer. Crunchy outside with a cream
cheese filling.
Other suggestions, use Toasted Vanilla Hazelnut instead of the chocolate turtle, or use the White Chocolate Caramel and roll in chopped almonds, coconut and crushed Cookies and cream candy bars. These are the ones in the front in the picture.
